Jordan Brand has opened its first flagship store in Hong Kong and it’s done so with a complete set of gold Jordans. The gold display made by artist, Michael Lau, has every Jordan model and has us thinking – is that real gold? Like, we know Hong Kong is about that money, and that this store is the largest in Asia, and the fact that it’s sitting in Hong Kong’s Central District means the guys behind it must have pocketed their fair share of red packets this Chinese New Year – but still, real gold? We just weighed an OG elephant print regular Jordan sitting around the office, it was 526 grams. Gold is probably 10x that. So, at 5kg a shoe, they’re worth about $196,135.65 each… yeah nah them shits are plated at best.

Even if the display isn’t as sumptuous as first thought, the store is still heavy on niceties. There’s a wear-test area that allows customers to practice drills on a digital wall, a members-only option that affords VIP access to pre-registration for new releases and courses educating sneaker lovers on product care and cleaning. If you’re in Hong Kong, roll through to 8 Wellington Street and check it out.
